Dreamer is just another name for a Drill cum Reamer.

A dreamer is a time saving and economical hole making tool. This tool has the characteristics of a Drill and Reamer combined together.

Following are the conditions of using a Dreamer while machining:-

• Should be used for a machining a through hole
• L/D ratio of the hole should be less than 3
• The pilot drill diameter should be less than the main diameter by around 0.5 mm
• The pilot step length should be 1-2 mm more than the hole depth.
• The size range is Ø6 and above.
